IntoOpera works with schools to make creativity part of everyday learning. Through performances, workshops, longer-term projects and artist residencies, pupils are given opportunities to experience live music, make their own work and take part in ambitious creative experiences.
The work goes beyond a one-off visit. IntoOpera builds relationships with schools, teachers and pupils, creating programmes that can grow around the needs of each school and its community.
IntoOpera currently works with Norfolk primary schools through projects, residencies and its growing Primary Arts Network.
IntoOpera works with primary schools to create experiences that bring children into direct contact with music, performance and professional artists.
Projects can include workshops, performances, creative programmes and longer-term residencies, giving pupils the chance not only to watch, but to participate, create and perform.
IntoOpera’s work with schools is designed to build confidence, teamwork, perseverance, communication, pride and a willingness to try something new. These outcomes have repeatedly emerged through the organisation’s evaluation of its education work.
IntoOpera can work with secondary schools to create ambitious creative experiences that introduce young people to opera, music and live performance in ways that feel relevant and accessible.
Programmes can be shaped around the needs of the school, giving pupils opportunities to work creatively, encounter professional artists and experience the arts beyond the classroom.
Where appropriate, projects can also help young people explore their own creativity and begin to see where music and the wider arts could take them.
The Primary Arts Network brings teachers and school leaders together to strengthen arts and cultural learning across Norfolk.
The network is free for schools and always will be. Since September 2025, it has reached 54 teachers across 25 schools, with more continuing to join.
It gives schools a space to connect, share ideas and explore ways to build stronger creative opportunities for their pupils.
Whether you are looking for a workshop, performance, longer-term project or creative partnership, IntoOpera can work with your school to develop an experience shaped around your pupils and your ambitions.
From first encounters with live music to sustained creative programmes, the starting point is always a conversation about what would make the greatest difference in your school.
Collaborative programmes shaped around a curriculum area, creative theme or group of pupils, often culminating in a concert, sharing or staged performance.
Longer-term partnerships that give pupils and teachers the opportunity to work regularly with IntoOpera artists over several weeks, a term or an academic year.
Live opera experiences that allow pupils to watch, explore or perform alongside professional singers, musicians and creative practitioners.
Practical sessions in singing, movement, acting, composition, storytelling and opera production, tailored to the age and experience of each group.
Support for schools looking to embed creativity more deeply across school life and the curriculum, rather than treating the arts as a one-off activity.
